The Belgian Diversity Charter

The Belgian Diversity Charter is a statement of intent. It sets out what our signatories stand for and what inclusion goals they set.

Diversity & Inclusion Charter

We, the signatories of the Belgian Diversity Charter, are committed to promoting an inclusive and fair working environment. We recognise that promoting diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) is not only beneficial for our organisations, but also a moral responsibility that contributes to a more just and respectful society.

By signing this declaration, we pledge to adhere to the following principles:

1. Fight discrimination

We are committed to actively combating all forms of discrimination in the workplace, both in everyday behaviour and in our HR practices (including recruitment, selection, retention, demotion and promotion). We strive for organisational fairness by treating all employees equally, as envisaged by the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR 4 November 1950) and the 3 basic federal laws:the Anti-Racism Act (30 July 1981), the Anti-Discrimination Act (10 May 2007) and the Gender Act (10 May 2007) which combat discrimination on the basis of certain protected characteristics. All HR decisions will be transparent and accountable, ensuring equal opportunities for all.

2. DEI Prioritised in Strategic Objectives

We will integrate diversity, equality and inclusion into our strategic objectives, recognising these principles as essential drivers for the success and sustainable growth of our organisation.

3. Offering equal opportunities

We ensure that our recruitment, reward and promotion practices provide equal opportunities for all. Every employee is treated with respect and given the support needed to reach her, their or his full potential.

4. Reflecting the Diversity of Society in our Workforce

We aim to build an employee base that reflects the diversity of society. Our aim is to create an environment where all people, regardless of background, can flourish and make valuable contributions within the organisation.

5. Promoting social inclusion

We promote social inclusion within our organisation through training, awareness programmes and adjustments in processes so that all employees feel supported and valued.

6. Increase awareness of DEI among Stakeholders

We are committed to raising awareness of DEI among our stakeholders, suppliers and partners. We will not only encourage, but also actively support them in embracing inclusive practices so that these principles actually come to life in all their external relationships. Moreover, we commit to working with stakeholders who are genuinely committed to the values of diversity, equality and inclusion, and who strive for a more just and respectful society for all.

7. Active Participation in the Diversity Charter Community

We will actively participate in the Belgian Diversity Charter community by attending events, workshops and networking efforts and sharing insights. This will enable us to learn from each other, exchange best practices and continuously improve our joint efforts to promote DEI. We will share case studies, insights and success stories with other signatories to promote mutual learning and collaboration.

8. Offering channels for reporting discrimination

We will create clear, confidential channels for employees to report instances of discrimination. We will ensure that all reports are treated impartially and fairly to promote a safe and inclusive working environment.

9. Progress Monitoring and Improvement

We will regularly evaluate the progress of our DEI targets. We commit to participate annually in evaluations and to deliver the necessary DEI metrics to the Belgian Diversity Charter. If necessary, we will take corrective action based on the annual evaluation to further improve inclusiveness and equality within our organisation. In addition, we will systematically integrate the Charter and DEI in sustainability reports.

By signing the Belgian Diversity Charter, we affirm our commitment to promoting a culture of respect and equality within our organisation.
